Book Power for Kids! [Power Family]
Book Power for Kids was started as a homeschool project for the Power children.
We were inspired to give podcasting a shot, fittingly enough, by a library book called Maker Dad by Mark Frauenfelder. Having decided that we were starting a podcast, the question then was what it would be about.
Chaska and Lani were already ravenous readers with a reputation at our local library for checking out 10-20 books apiece weekly, so book reviews seemed like a no-brainer. Acting out a scene was suggested somewhere along the way and a podcast was born!
Since we’ve started, we have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback of listeners – most notably by the authors of many of the books themselves!

Chaska Power
Chaska is the eldest Power child and our resident storyteller. He is gifted with gab and an uncanny ability to spell nearly anything.
Leilani Power
Leilani is the middle Power child and our artist/athlete. She was known as “the wall” on her first soccer team for her outstanding defense and is currently planning on being an astronaut when she grows up.
Mirabel Power
Mirabel is the youngest of the Power children and the family comedian. Don’t let those cute cheeks fool you, there’s bound to be a mischievous smile somewhere near them. She loves to read and play and is planning on being a paleontologist when she grows up.
Brennen Power
Brennen is the father and teacher of the Power kids and a former professional baker. He lets the kids do the heavy lifting on the podcasts, but helps them edit the show. (And he gets to choose the out-takes! 😉 )
